As of January 1, 2026, the possibility to submit an application for an Employee Card or a long-term visa for the purpose of doing business at the Visa Centre in Dresden will be restricted.
As of January 1, 2026, specific conditions will apply to submitting applications for an Employee Card and a long-term visa for the purpose of doing business at this Visa Centre.
An application may be submitted only by:
- a national of a state whose nationals have right to visa-free travel under Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 of the European Parliament and of the Council,
- a national of a state whose nationals are exempt from local consular competence,
- a national of a state whose nationals are covered by the Government Programme “Qualified Employee,”
- a participant in the Government Programme “Key and Scientific Personnel.”
An Employee Card may also be applied for by a national of a state whose nationals are covered by the Government Programme “Highly Qualified Employee”.
A long-term visa for the purpose of doing business may also be applied for by a participant in the Government Programme “Digital Nomad.”
Dresden Visa Centre is primarily intended for receiving applications from third-country nationals who are long-term or permanent residents in a Schengen state, a European microstate or the Republic of Cyprus and who are legally residing in those states continuously for at least 2 years.
