Amendment to the Act: Overview of the main changes effective from October 1, 2025

Reporting change of employer for holders of employee cards without free access to the labour market

The period required to report a new employer for holders of employee cards without free access to the labour market has been extended from 60 to 90 days. This also extends the period after which the employee card is, by law, revoked in the event of termination of employment without reporting a new employer.

If the employment with the previous employer was terminated before or on August 1, 2025, the period to report a change of employer remains 60 days.

If the employment with the previous employer was terminated on or after August 2, 2025, the newly established period of 90 days applies to the reporting of a change of employer. More information can be found here.

New rules for providing proof of funds for the stay in the territory

For the calculation of the required proof of funds for the stay in the territory, a newly introduced normative rent and energy standard rate will replace the existing normative housing costs.

The specific amounts have also been adjusted. More information can be found here.

Revocation of residence permits

The Ministry of the Interior will newly revoke a residence permit if a judgment imposing a penalty for committing a criminal offence referred to in § 80(1) of the Criminal Code has become final and binding.

This change applies to holders of all types of residence permits granted under the Act on the Residence of Foreigners.
