Procedure upon Acquiring Czech Citizenship – How to Report it
Granting of State Citizenship of the Czech Republic
The granting of state citizenship is stipulated by Act No. 186/2013 Coll., on State Citizenship of the Czech Republic. The Department of State Citizenship of the Ministry of the Interior decides on its granting, and there is no legal entitlement to it.

How to Proceed after Acquiring Citizenship of the Czech Republic?
If you acquire state citizenship, you are required to return the residence permit card to the Ministry of the Interior.
You can return the document in person at the locally competent Ministry of the Interior office or send it by post to the address of the locally competent Ministry of the Interior office.
If you come to the office in person, bring the original document on the acquisition of state citizenship and the residence permit card. You can book an appointment online through your user account or by phone through the Client Centre. Instructions for making an online booking are available here.
If you wish to handle the return remotely, send the residence permit card and an officially certified copy of the document on the acquisition of state citizenship of the Czech Republic by post. As returning the residence permit card is part of this act, it cannot be completed via Data Box.
The residence permit card must always be delivered to your locally competent Ministry of the Interior office.
