If the application is found inadmissible, the administrative proceedings are not initiated and the application is deemed not submitted. You will be informed about the inadmissibility of the application by the Ministry or the diplomatic mission in writing, including the reasons why the application was found inadmissible, and the decision on inadmissibility will be recorded in the file. The application form, provided documents and the administrative fee (if paid) will be returned to you.

If the diplomatic mission’s quota for submission of applications for a particular type of a residence permit has been reached for the given calendar month, subsequent applications will be by default deemed inadmissible.

A long-term visa application or an application to extend a long-term visa are inadmissible if:

• you have not paid the administrative fee upon the application submission,
• you have not provided the necessary documents (this does not apply if the application is submitted on behalf of a foreigner born in the Czech Republic),
• you have not used an official form for the application,
• you have refused that your fingerprints or visual record be taken.

If you submit your application at a diplomatic mission, it is also inadmissible if:

• you have not made an appointment to submit your application in person beforehand in a way established by the diplomatic mission for the purpose of residence for which you are applying;
• you submitted your application at a diplomatic mission that is not authorised to receive your application,
• you did not submit your application in person provided that the diplomatic mission had not waived the obligation to submit the application in person,
• you stated that you do not speak the language of the proceedings and within a reasonable time limit given by the diplomatic mission and at your own cost you did not arrange for an interpreter or a person who meets the requirements to be appointed as an interpreter in line with the Law on sworn interpreters and translators even though the diplomatic mission had informed you about this obligation.

Long-term and permanent residence permit applications, applications to extend a long-term residence permit, or applications to extend a permanent residence permit document submitted at a diplomatic mission are inapplicable if:

• you have not made an appointment to submit your application in person beforehand in a way established by the diplomatic mission for the purpose of residence for which you are applying;
• you submitted your application at a diplomatic mission not authorised to receive your application,
• you did not submit your application in person provided that the diplomatic mission had not waived the obligation to submit the application in person.

When applying for a long-term visa extension, all required documents must be submitted at the same time. You must pay an administrative fee (fee for long-term visa is prescribed by law) and your application must be filed on the prescribed application form.

Extension of visa for the purpose of leave to remain must be filed in person. In other instances, it is possible to apply via mail or through the Data Box of the Ministry of the Interior. If you send it through the Data Box, it is necessary to attach all documents (with the exception of your passport), either in their original electronic version, or converted into an electronic version by the means of an authorized conversion. If the application is sent via mail or through Data Box, you can attach an ordinary copy of the page in your passport reading your personal data. Do not send original travel documents via mail.

If you file your application via Data Box, and it is subject to an administrative fee payment, you have to ask for banking details for the payment of the subsequent obligatory fee.

If the aforegoing requirements are not met, the application becomes inadmissible and it is deemed as not having been filed. The Ministry of the Interior or the Diplomatic Mission office will return the application form, all submitted documents and the administrative fee, if it had been paid. At the same time, you will be notified of the reason of the inadmissibility of your application´s.
