Long-term Residence Permit – Other Educational Activities

A long-term residence permit is a residence permit intended for third country nationals who want to reside in the Czech Republic for a specific purpose for more than one year.

If you intend to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 90 days for educational activities that do not fall under the long-term residence permit for the purpose of study, you can apply for a long-term residence permit for other educational activities.

This includes, for example:

  • Studying at a secondary school, conservatory, or higher vocational school outside of an exchange program
  • Education in a non-accredited study program at a university in the Czech Republic
  • Education at a branch of a university that is not accredited in the Czech Republic but is accredited in another EU member state
  • Post-secondary school, language, or professional courses or programs
  • Study visits and other educational courses or programs

How long is this residence permit valid for?

It is issued usually for up to 1 year.

What obligations and restrictions does this residence permit mean?

You must fulfil the purpose of your stay for the whole duration of your residence permit. You must also follow the obligations for foreigners stipulated by law.


What does this residence permit enable you to do?

If you hold a valid residence permit, you can leave and re-enter the Czech Republic repeatedly. You can also travel within the Schengen Area without a visa.
